About the event

In honor of their mission to retell the stories that shaped our community’s rich heritage, the African American Heritage Foundation of Southeastern North Carolina is commemorating Juneteenth by highlighting the history of the unsung heroes of the 135th Infantry of the United States Colored Troop (USCT).

On June 19th at 2pm, the Foundation will host a program featuring a keynote address from Jay and Amy Bauer, two genealogy experts who have dedicated themselves to exploring and sharing the rich history of the 135th USCT. This event will be hosted at 338 Main St. Navassa, NC 28451 (Navassa Community Center) and is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by WWAY, North Brunswick Magazine, Town of Navassa, Rice University, and Cameron Arts Museum.
